The hardness of the African evidence is not a myth, and any mistake can be costly in Africa. After winning three stages, Marc Coma was close to the Senegalese capital with a wide lead in the overall standings after dominating forcefully to that extent the Lisboa Dakar 2007. Just two days to tread the legendary Pink Lake, the Repsol rider made a mistake in a difficult navigation point definitively ruled his career in the rally. Trying to retrieve the right track, Marc had a fall that forced him to withdraw from a test that was totally dominated.

The painful withdrawal of the legendary race did nothing but spur the pilot Avià, with the firm purpose of showing that remained the same as always, was proclaimed for the third consecutive year Raids World Champion, again showing relentless in the five tests you play. The victories in Tunisia, Sardinia, Patagonia, Egypt and Dubai have shown great maturity and experience of the Repsol rider, who returned as a favorite to Lisbon, prepared for the Dakar 2008.

However, terrorist threats led to the suspension of the 2008 Dakar, and then had to set our sights on new goals, first, the Dakar Series. At the first appointment, the Central European Rally, Coma was imposed in authority in the first stage, but a fall in the second stage forced him to return to Barcelona, with two small fractures in his right knee. He returned to competition in the Sertões Rally, World Championship event finals in June, where he finished fourth.

Before the summer, the Repsol rider again enjoy the taste of victory by winning the Baja Spain Aragon, and in September, played the second date of the Dakar Series, the PAX Rally. Again finished on the podium in third position, and soon flew to Dubai to compete in the UAE Desert Challenge. Coma was starring in a new exhibition in a territory dominated like no other, not in vain had won the previous two editions, but failure is five kilometers from the end of the penultimate stage, led him to seventeenth place finish.
